lyrics

I saw the murder on mulligan street
I saw the cursed things, I never should have seen
I'll pay my due just in this iron, I will not meet
What lays beyond these walls, soulless things not machine

When the moons set on sky, when its white and complete
When shes lone in her bed, fearing dreams in fleeting sleep
She tries her best not to feed the memories conceit
Return to what she saw back on Mulligan street

It was decades ago, from sights not my own
On nights with calm winds, she hears howling rushing low
She ran through an alley, expecting to stop a man she knows
But what she saw instead, a horrid beast with eyes aglow

Feeding on twilight, stained with young maids blood
She should have stayed and fought the beast, to save a woman's life of whom she owes
And oh, the beast did give chase, oh no
Stopped up in a back way, the police chose her as their foe

I saw the murder on mulligan street
I saw the cursed things, I never should have seen
I'll pay my due just in this iron, I will not meet
What lays beyond these walls, soulless things not machine

She was bound, she was gagged, a bag over head
They called her a monster for a crime she did not commit
Starved and held for 30 days more, she was skin and bones
They asked her what happened that night and this is what she told

A brute, a beast, a dark god, and teeth stained with blood
What little skin there was shown, was thick as stuck mud
Fur so dark, and eyes so filled with piercing evil
It burns in my mind, the deepest fear of the demon people

The doctor said she was mad as she was savage, and wicked
The jury thought she would be best caged, and for a jacket she was fitted
But before they took her off, out of that varnished oak room
She saw a man standing in the back, and when our eyes met I knew- she knew- that

I saw the murder on mulligan street
I saw the cursed things, I never should have seen
I'll pay my due just in this iron, I will not meet
What lays beyond these walls, soulless things not machine
